Robin weaves Korowai
Earlier this year we had the privilege to photograph a beautiful kākahu woven by Robin.
Robin has been working at her craft for twelve years.
The fabric of the cloak is jute which has been bleached and the feathers are pheasant. It was made as a special order for a client.
The pattern is significant in that it is a collaboration of both Māori and Pacific Island cultures as can be seen in the design.
When we photographed the kākahu we used only window light and reflectors. Using the short depth of field gave it character and intensity.
How good is our job ?
