Nicola here! I recently attended the Nikon Iris awards and the Canon NZ Photo Show in Nelson.
These events are brought together by the New Zealand Institute of Professional Photography.
We weren't able to hold these events in person last year so it was great to be able to come together and celebrate all things photography again.
I love conference! Its such a great atmosphere and I love catching up with amazing friends.
I was lucky enough to be on the events team this year and had a hand in helping organize the Canon NZ Photo Show.
We had a great line up of speakers including legend, Mike King and the wonderful Amy Scott (a Dunedin local).
I attended an underwater photography workshop with Jose Cano, his underwater studio was amazing!
We were all lucky enough to be able to take some photos from a window.
(I can't take the credit for the beautiful model, lighting or posing)
You can see some of his beautiful work here: http://www.josegcano.com/
Some of the entries I had in the Nikon Iris awards did well.
Out of my seven entries I received seven awards, was very happy with my results!
I entered into a new category call Expressive, this is where anything goes.
Recently I have been experimenting with an alternative photographic technique called Cyanotype.
This is where you paint light sensitive solution onto paper/objects or material.
A big thank you to Dan Childs at https://222photographicstudios.com/
who did an amazing coverage of the conference this year, his photos are also included below.
